Do I need to purchase tickets in advance for a Swarthout Coaches trip?

When traveling on the Swarthout Coaches it is necessary to purchase tickets in advance.

I purchased a ticket but can’t make my trip. Can I change my ticket or receive a refund?

Unfortunately, no.  All our tickets are non-refundable.

Am I guaranteed a seat on the Swarthout Coaches?

Passengers who purchase their ticket by calling our ticket office or who purchase online at www.GoSwarthout.com will be guaranteed a seat after you get a Tour Receipt.

Where can I buy my tickets for the Swarthout Coaches?

Swarthout Coaches offers a variety of locations to purchase your ticket. Tickets can be purchased online at GoSwarthout.com through our secure website. Tickets can also be purchased by visiting our office in Ithaca or by calling 607-257-2277

 Do I need an account to purchase a ticket online?

No, you do not need to create an account.

What form of payment do you accept for tickets?

Online we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover.  At our Ithaca office or over the phone we accept Visa and MasterCard and Discover.

I lost my ticket.  How do I receive a replacement ticket?

Swarthout Coaches will check you off on a master list, please have ID.

Does Swarthout Coaches go to any other stops besides the ones listed on the tour description?

No. Swarthout Coaches only offers scheduled service to the stops listed on the schedule. However, we are always willing to listen to suggestions about adding new stops. If there is a stop you would like us to review, please send us a message using the contact us form on our questions page.

What is the number to call for fare and schedule information for the Swarthout Coaches?

You can call our toll free number at (800) 772-7267. For information in the Ithaca area, you can call the Ithaca ticket office at (607) 257-2277.

Can I buy a ticket for someone else to use?

Yes. You can purchase a ticket to be available for someone else to use. Simply sign up for a Swarthout Coaches online account and purchase a ticket through our online ticketing service. When you purchase tickets online, you must choose the EXACT date and schedule for departure and the passenger MUST travel at the chosen time. There is no additional fee to purchase an online ticket for someone else but once purchased, the ticket is non-refundable and non-exchangeable. The passenger will need to be at their departure location with a photo ID or confirmation code given to the purchaser (sent by email) after purchase.

Does Swarthout Coaches guarantee its departure and arrival times?

No. While the Swarthout Coaches runs very close to the schedule times, it is not possible to guarantee its arrival times. Swarthout makes every effort to provide on-time service, but may be delayed by any number of factors, including weather, traffic or mechanical problems.

The bus was late and I missed a connection for another bus or an airline flight.  Am I entitled to a refund?

No.  Swarthout is not liable for the expense of connecting bus service missed as a result of a delay. However, you may wish to contact the connecting bus line or airline for their specific refund procedures.

What are the restrictions on baggage?

With each adult ticket, customers are allowed 1 piece of luggage to be placed in the baggage compartment and two small items as carry-on. Items placed below the bus cannot exceed 50 pounds and should be completely enclosed. Baggage for underneath the bus should not exceed 62 inches when adding the total exterior dimensions of the piece (length + width + height).
Carry-on items must fit in the overhead racks or below your seat. Please remember to keep all valuables and medication with you at all times. Items placed under the bus or inside are the sole responsibility of the passenger traveling.

Are radios, laptops, cell phones or electronic games allowed on Swarthout Coach tours?

Yes. Radios, laptops and other electronic items may be carried on board, provided that they do not disturb fellow passengers and that headphones are used. If you are using your cell phone please keep your conversation quiet to be considerate of your fellow passengers.

 Are food and drink allowed on board the bus?

Yes. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed on board. Beverages should have a lid to prevent spills and we ask that you dispose of your waste when done with your trip.

Do the buses have restrooms available?

Yes. All Swarthout Coaches are equipped with air conditioning, an on-board rest room, reclining seats with headrests, and tinted windows. 

Is smoking allowed on the Swarthout Coaches?

No. Federal Law does not allow smoking on Swarthout Coaches.

Does Swarthout Coaches have a policy with regard to unruly customers or disruptive behavior?

Swarthout reserves the right to refuse to transport a person under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs or who refuses to comply with any lawful rule or regulations. If you witness any unruly behavior or suspect any trouble with a fellow passenger during your trip, please notify the driver.

What do I do if I booked my ticket online but did not receive an email confirmation?

You should receive an e-mail confirmation of your order. If you don’t receive your receipt within 24 hours, please call our ticket office and we’ll re-send you a receipt.
